The World Sleep Day and its history

World Sleep Day is usually a day that is annually organized by the sleep committee of the World Sleep Society. From the year 2008, the day has been celebrated regularly with different slogans. The day is perceived on Friday before March Equinox every year. The main purpose of this day is to create awareness in society about the benefits of healthy sleep, the importance of sleep, sleep disorders and its prevention.

Every year the World Sleep Society organizes different kinds of discussion, seminars, meetings, exhibitions across the world to celebrate the day. For the year 2021, World Sleep Day fell on 19th March. The slogan for the year was ‘Regular sleep, healthy future’.

This initiative is often criticized as it looks very silly. According to several people sleep is something connected to mental peace. It’s not a commodity to celebrate this way.
