Canon: The Best Pan-tilt-zoom Camera with 4K Resolution

Pan-tilt-zoom camera or PTZ camera, in short, is pretty self-descriptive. It refers to the movement a robotic camera can perform - panning, tilting, and zooming. If you are not familiar with the camera movements, it means that the camera would be able to pan horizontally from side to side and tilt up and down vertically, while also zooming in on a particular subject. Canon is a leading manufacturer of PTZ cameras.

These cameras usually can be controlled both manually with a joystick or remote controller or virtually via monitoring software. Some advanced pan-tilt-zoom camera also moves by themselves, tracking the movements of the subjects they are focusing on.

Recently, Canon launched three new PTZ cameras with 4K resolution. Let’s find out the details below.

Latest 4K PTZ Cameras by Canon

As is the norm in the camera technology industry, every year manufacturers tend to launch a new line of products, or at least, reshuffle their existing lineups. The Pan-tilt-zoom camera segments are no different, with Canon releasing two high-end indoor and one all-weather PTZ cameras with 4K resolution. These cameras are:

Canon CR-N500

Sporting a DIGIC DV 6 processor for image processing, the CR-N500 camera from Canon can capture and process images with minimum noise, higher sensitivity, and little to no subject illumination. It has a 1-inch CMOS sensor and can zoom up to 15x optically with its 4K UHD lens.

Canon CR-N300

While CR-N300 also features the same image processor, its CMOS sensor is ½.3-inch. This pan-tilt-zoom camera also comes with 20x optical zoom capabilities and mixes things up with four pre-set video modes for portrait, spotlight, low-light, and sports.

Canon CR-X500

Unlike the first two cameras, Canon CR-X500 is a rugged module that can withstand all the different weather conditions outdoors. The CMOS sensor is similar to the CR-N500, with the lens capable of 15x zoom. It is also possible to zoom up to 30x in its FHD mode.
